Taking a Deposit

CANCELLATIONS & DEPOSITS 

Your appointments are very important to us at Ruby Mane Hair Boutique.  Your appointment is reserved especially for you and, while we understand that sometimes schedules adjustments are necessary, we respectfully request at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations.

Occasionally we will require a deposit to secure your appointment time.  If you have to cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, your deposit will be non-refundable.   

Please note below our policy on taking deposits:

  • Ruby Mane Hair Boutique will require a deposit a minimum of seven days in advance of appointments that are likely to be time-consuming.  For example, a deposit will be required for hair smoothing treatments and colour correction appointments longer than 2 hours.  Deposit amounts will vary depending on the treatment and length of service.
  • Bridal hair & make-up packages will require a 50% deposit to secure your date. We will require the deposit a minimum of 24 weeks prior to the date of your bridal hair & make-up appointment.  The final balance will be due 21 days prior to your wedding day.
  • Great Lengths and Viola Hair Extension deposits will be required prior to the hair being ordered. Deposit amounts will vary depending on the treatment and length of service.

HAIR CONSULTATIONS

We offer in-depth consultations which are particularly important if you are considering a new hairstyle or new hair colour.  We charge £20 for a 30 minute consultation with a stylist and this payment will be taken at the time of booking.  If you are having a colour consultation, we will do a skin test and may carry out a strand test.   During your consultation we will discuss your hair likes and dislikes, assess the condition of your hair, work on a plan to give you the best possible results, and provide you with a price. 

PATCH TESTING

You no longer need to visit the salon for a pre-appointment patch test.  Instead, we have partnered with Colourstart which is the only clinically proven screening test for hair colour allergy (PPD) in the UK. 

As Colourstart is a licensed medicine, we do have to charge you a one-off £15 for the product. However, we will help with this charge by giving you £5 off your next colour service. 

You will need to log into Colourstart and buy the patch test which you then apply at home, logging your results using the Colourstart Digital Passport app. This simple test will replace the six monthly 'blob of colour' we dab onto the inside of your elbow when you visit us in the salon.  Find out how to get started with Colourstart here.

If you suffer from skin sensitivities we highly recommend Schwarzkopf Igora Senea Colour and Schwarzkopf ESSENSITY colour which are both ammonia-free and use natural ingredients where possible.  They deliver beautiful crisp colours with great condition and shine.  

GETTING IT RIGHT

The Ruby Mane team work really hard to achieve the look and style you have in your mind. Very, very occasionally we may not be on quite the right track and you may feel the look is not quite what you wanted.  Don’t panic!  If you contact us within 7 days of your appointment date, we will very happily book you in to work with your hair again to make sure you’re really happy.  As you will appreciate, we will need to see you back in salon as soon as possible. Hair grows very quickly and any follow up appointments must be within this 7 day timescale to ensure the best chance of success.
