The team at Ruby Mane Hair Boutique in Farnham are pleased to be supporting Help4Harry, a local charity raising awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Help4Harry was set up in a few years ago to support five year old Harry (pictured, left) who was diagnosed in 2013 with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a muscle wasting condition that has no known cure.
Harry, who is now aged nine, is likely to be in a wheelchair by his 10th birthday and his upper body will then begin to shut down due to this rare and painful condition.
There is a large amount of research currently taking place in the UK and abroad but as yet the only treatment is a steroid program to help manage the disease. The Help4Harry website offers a focus point where supporters like the Ruby Mane team are kept up to date on Harry’s progress, can raise awareness and funds to help those at the forefront of research into treatments.
The Ruby Mane team will be holding a charity day in salon on 19th August for Help4Harry. This will include a raffle, games, lucky dips, face painting and more… Other events are also planned, including a Curry & Quiz night in October.
