Becoming A Sustainable Salon

Sustainable Hairdressers in Farnham SurreyRuby Mane Hair Boutique is looking into becoming a sustainable salon and has created a short questionnaire below so we can find out what you, our valued guests, have to say on this subject.

By working with Green Salon Collective, every item of salon waste can be used again to benefit the community and the environment. The sad truth is that mixed recycling does not work. It causes cross-contamination within bin bags and waste collection bins, resulting in some waste being unfit to recycle, ending up in our landfill sites.

Did you know that it can take 400 years to breakdown foils and plastics as the toxic chemicals seep into the environment?

Ruby and the team are becoming increasingly passionate about doing “our bit for the planet” and a partnership with Green Salon Collective would be a huge step forward in recognising our responsibility as a business in becoming a “sustainable salon”.  We switched to a renewable energy supplier in January 2020, and we are very excited that every time we blow dry your hair, or heat our water tanks, we are now doing it with renewable energy.

GSC will recycle our foils, plastics, cardboard, chemicals and even your hair!  However, here’s the downside – nothing comes for free!  Ruby Mane would pay to have the systems in place but we would be very grateful for a voluntary contribution of 50p per visit to be added to your bill as a “Green Fee”.  This will go towards the monthly cost of a full recycling programme.

The business would in no way profit from this contribution, it is purely a contribution to help us be the most sustainable salon we can be to ensure future generations have the best chance possible of inheriting the beautiful environment they deserve.

Going Green – Have Your Say

We would love to know your thoughts and how important being part of a sustainable salon is to you and your family. Please take a moment to complete the questionnaire below and, of course, feel free to keep it anonymous if you prefer!  As ever a Big Thank You from Ruby and the Team.
