Hair Colour

Ruby Mane Hair Boutique in Farnham - an Elite Wella Hair Colour Salon

At our hair salon in Farnham we are experts in creating stunning hair colour using the latest Wella range of hair colours.

The first stage for anyone considering a new hair colour is to talk through your wishes with your Ruby Mane colour technician. Together we can discuss the look you want to achieve, assess the colour options and consider the techniques that will most suit your personal style.  Our colour services are available to people aged 16 and over.

Patch Testing Before Your Hair Colour Appointment

At Ruby Mane Hair Boutique, we have partnered with Colourstart which is the only clinically proven screening test for hair colour allergy (PPD) in the UK. Colourstart is designed to make the patch test experience easier, as you can do it from the comfort of your own home!

You will need to log into Colourstart and buy the patch test which you then apply at home, logging your results using the Colourstart Digital Passport app. This simple test will replace the six monthly 'blob of colour' we dab onto the inside of your elbow when you visit us in the salon.  Find out how to get started with Colourstart here.

As Colourstart is a licensed medicine, we do have to charge you a one-off £15 for the product. However, we will help with this charge by giving you £5 off your next colour service.

Hair Colour Techniques Explained

Highlights – (or hi-lites) Individual foils are placed, with varying degrees of width and volume, in the hair to add lighter (highlights) or darker (lowlights) delicate strips of colour.  Depending on the look you want to achieve we can use a wide range of tones and shades.

Lowlights - These are just like highlights but instead of lightening the hair we tend to add tone and depth with darker hair colour.  In our image you can see that a full head of red colour has been applied, with lowlights giving extra interest to the hairstyle.

Balayage - Balayage is a French word meaning ‘to paint’ or ‘to sweep’. The technique allows us to create a sun-kissed, natural looking hair colour using a freehand technique.

Glossing – This is a semi-permanent hair colour that can camouflage grey hair, add depth, sheen and vibrancy to your hair colour.   It has a great hair conditioning effect and can be used on pre-coloured hair.  It does not lighten hair.

Regrowth (or roots) – Once you have had your hair coloured you will usually see your natural colour peek through near your hair roots after four to six weeks.  We can easily cover up these 'roots' or regrowth, giving your coloured hair a boost with renewed colour depth and shine.

Transform Your Looks With A Hair Colour Change

You can dramatically change your looks or simply enhance your natural hair tone with a complete change of hair colour.

If you feel your natural hair colour lacks depth or shine or you simply want to colour grey hair, talk to your highly skilled Ruby Mane hair technician about colouring your hair.

Colour change is a permanent hair colour that is carefully applied on a full head of hair. Starting at the root your technician will ensure even coverage to achieve a perfect result.

As a Wella salon, we are highly trained in every hair colouring technique and can guide you on which hair colour, shades and tones to choose.
