Patch Testing & Your Hair Colour Appointment At Ruby Mane Hair Boutique In Farnham
At last colour patch testing is about to get easier and more convenient for Ruby Mane clients. We have listened to your dislikes with the current laborious, inconvenient ways we need to colour patch test and we have the perfect solution!
We are partnering with Colourstart which is the only clinically proven screening test for hair colour allergy (PPD) in the UK and it is licensed by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency).
The changes mean you will no longer need to visit the salon for a pre-appointment patch test. Instead, you will apply the patch test at home and log your own results using the Colourstart Digital Passport app. This simple test will replace the six monthly 'blob of colour' we dab onto the inside of your elbow when you visit us in the salon.
As Colourstart is a licensed medicine, we do have to charge you a one-off £15 for the product. However, we will help with this charge by giving you £5 off your next colour service. As long as your health and allergy status remains the same, you will not need to do another Colourstart patch test. However, please bear in mind that people can become sensitive to hair colour at different stages in their lives so it's vital you keep your Colourstart Digital Passport details up to date.
How To Get Started
Allow at least four days before your next colour appointment to set up your Colourstart Passport. You can do that by following the instructions here.
Once you have registered you will be asked a few screening questions and can also purchase the Colourstart Patch for £15. Ruby Mane Hair Boutique is registered with Colourstart so will be able to see your results once you have shared them online.
In the meantime, you might want to find out a bit more about Colourstart. You can either watch the video below or click here for a step-by-step on how to apply your Colourstart patch test at home.
Why Do I Need To Do A Patch Test Before Hair Colouring?
Ruby Mane Hair Boutique is a responsible salon and, as such, we will only be able to colour your hair if you have an up-to-date Allergy Alert Test (otherwise known as a patch test or skin test). People can become sensitive to hair colour for many different reasons and at different stages in their lives so it's vital we continue to monitor you for any possible reactions to the colouring products we use.
